make a sound.

When we turned twenty-three, things weren’t as they seemed
It’s hard to fit big dreams in small realities
When we stood up, we got knocked down
‘Cos the world spins fast when it turns itself around
And when you’re on the ground
It’s all you can do to make a sound—
Let alone sing it out

Singing’s easy when you’re not scared,
And love has meaning when someone cares,
But how do you believe when you cannot see?
And when no one’s listening—
Will you still sing?

From my favorite Portland/Seattle songstress:  Natalie.
